Anti-Convulsant

Epilepsy is a serious and embarrassing neurological condition, where there is a chance to have seizures which start in the brain. It affects approximately 50 out of every 100,000 people. More than 190,000 people are diagnosed with epilepsy every year.

People face this disorder when the electrical signals in the brain go wrong. The brain's normal function is altered by these overactive electric discharges, leading to a temporary communication problem between the nerves cells.

The exact cause of epilepsy is not known but there are some situations that can make a person develop his disorder such as brain injury, an infection that affected the brain development of a fetus during pregnancy, lack of oxygen to an infant's brain, encephalitis, meningitis and other types of infections that affect the brain functioning, brain tumor, alcohol or lead poisoning etc.

Some of the common symptoms of epilepsy are partial or complete loss of awareness along with change in the behavior, shaking of hands, legs and bodies, foaming in the mouth, falling down, sudden bouts of chewing etc.

There is no cure to epilepsy but there are various anti-convulsant medications available to treat the symptoms of epilepsy and seizures.  Medications such as Tegretol, Trileptal, Topamax, Sibelium, Depakota, Lamictal, Neurontin, and Dilantin are available on our online portal and are successfully used to treat epilepsy. These medications are helpful to treat epilepsy by changing the way the brain cells work and help to stop epilepsy activity that spreads through one cell of the brain to other.
